RDA has 19,000 volunteers throughout the country - why not be one of them?

Rewarding and fulfilling, a great gang of people and super ponies, knowing you’re supporting and helping less able children. The delight on the children’s faces says it all!

Volunteer

Young or old we have a role for everyone, whether you want the opportunity to coach the next equestrian Paralympian or recognise the achievement of a young boy saying his very first words in 5 years to his pony – RDA has this volunteering experience. Volunteers are essential in every area of RDA life. From coaches to cake bakers, people support RDA in many different ways. Whatever skills you can bring, giving your time to your local RDA group will mean that more disabled people can enjoy the therapy and fun of horses. Whether you can give an hour each week, a morning or only manage to help once a month we would love to see you. Don't worry if you are not horsey as each rider needs side walkers to help them. The children need assistance to put their hats on and help to wait whilst they mount, and we need to record lots of information each week to help with the running of the group.

Volunteering for RDA is one of my most fulfilling times and my happy place! We all want what is best for the children who come, and show them, the ponies, and each other, kindness. An absolute winning combination for health and well being!

“Hurrah!”

“Hurrah” for Peterborough RDA,

where “it’s what you can do that counts.”

“Hurrah” for New Pasture Stables and their kind and patient mounts,

“Hurrah” for the wonderful coaches - Bella, Kathy, Rosie and Debs,

who encourage the children to have fun and do their best.

“Hurrah” for the volunteers who go the extra mile,

who turn out in all weathers and always wear a smile.

And “Hurrah” for all the children whose courage is inspiring,

and who grow in strength and confidence,

through their new found joy in riding.

Caroline Desbruslais - Volunteer.
